Swiffer WetJet

Product Description As seen on the tv show Trading Spaces and commercials, the Swiffer WetJet (SWJ “new catch phrase just developed by me”) cleans your floors better then a regular mop. From the Amazon web site… The Swiffer WetJet Starter Kit, Includes Ergonomically Designed WetJet Device, Liter Of WetJet Cleaning Solution & 6 Super-Absorbent WetJet Cleaning Pads, Enough Solution To Clean 6 To 7 Large Rooms, Solution Is Safe To Use On All Types Of Floors, Cleaning Pads Work With The Solution To Help Dissolve & Trap Dirt, Each Cleaning Pad Cleans An Area Equivalent To The Entire Floor Surface Of Approximately 2 Large Rooms.

What it costs $20.00 for the starter kit. $4.00 for the multipurpose floor cleaner refills (32 ounces) – Cleaning pad refills (12 for $7.99)

Ease of assembly 5 Stars
You need to assemble the Swiffer Wet Jet. It is easy to put together and comes with instructions (you probably won’t need them).

Ease of use 5 Stars
The SWJ is mopping made easy. No bucket needed so it gets bonus points for that.

Actual performance 5 Stars
The Swiffer Wet Jet has a spray feature that shoots the cleaning solution out in front of the SWJ so as you move the SWJ, you can wet down the floor as needed. It is lighter then most mops and that aids in the comfort of using it. However, the head of this mop is not as large as a standard string mop so you don’t cover as much floor at one time. If I had to choose between the string mop with bucket or the SWJ, I would choose the SWJ.

Final thoughts on practicality
This is a product for home use. I would not want to have to depend on this for cleaning the halls of a school. The product does exactly what it claims to do. However refills for the cleaning solution and pads can add up if you use the SWJ often. If not for the price of the refills and new pads, this would have gotten a perfect 5 star review.
I have also had some mixed results cleaning my wooden floors. Some times after they are cleaned they seem a bit dull.
Also there is an urban legend about this product being harmful to pets. It's not true. I have attached a url addressing this urban legend...
